Meet Adina Saperstein

Adina Saperstein

How long have you been practicing yoga? 2,782 lifetimes + 10 years

Current happy pose? Humble Warrior

Current nemesis pose? I've always had a love hate relationship with Hanumanasana. I love Hanuman, why does his pose have to be so hard?!

What is your favorite food? Kale salad, obviously.

Why do you teach yoga? I've felt how these practices can help us stop tormenting ourselves and one another, and if feels like part of my training to learn how to share that. And because Lily asked me to.

Elvis Presley or Frank Sinatra? Elvis!

One thing you do every day? Meditate, even if it's just for a couple of minutes. It's like crack.

Brown Rice or Quinoa? Brown rice (...If only quinoa wasn't destroying the Latin American food economy).

What is your favorite bad habit? Overscheduling. There's so much to do!

Good book recommendation? And There Was Light by Jacques Lusseyran - about audacious gratitude and hope in the face of unspeakable tragedy.

What is your best asana tip? Watching where the mind has (inevitably) drifted off to after we've held a pose for a long time, then bringing the focus back for one last full breath cycle and keeping it in tact through the transition to the next pose.

What is your favorite yama/niyama? Isvara Pranidhana - Surrender to the force that manifests each moment just as it is.
